Canadian Pacific (TSX: CP) (NYSE: CP) has joined the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA). In joining the alliance, CP is supporting BiTA’s mission of producing blockchain standards that allow for interoperability between participants in the global supply chain.

I’d like to start this update with the reminder that the Omni Layer is an asset issuance and smart contract protocol that runs on top of the Bitcoin network. Some people have asked if Omni is a fork of Bitcoin, or its own network – and I wanted to reiterate that the Omni Layer is a meta-layer on top of Bitcoin.

What follows are edited excerpts from the English translation of a paper that Chuanwei Zou originally wrote in Chinese, “Bubbles and Opportunities: An Economic Analysis of Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain Technology.” 

ABN AMRO, Port of Rotterdam and Samsung SDS demonstrated that blockchain technology enables interoperability, and that integrated container tracking and tracing, required cargo documentation processing and financing can all be done in a trusted, secure and paperless way.
